Have you ever asked yourself, “How do I know what Yahweh’s will for my life is?” Have you ever wondered if how you lived your life is important to Him? “Does my desire(s) line up with the scriptures?” These questions can be disturbing most times as you desire to live your life according to the will of Yahweh. I remember asking these questions even as a little girl. Most times I wish I can get immediate answers to my questions just like I do each time I ask my parents. I wonder why I don’t get an immediate response as I do from my parents? Yet it is important I know God’s will for my life.

Yahushua’s purpose was well-defined Heb10:7 NLT(Then I said, ‘Look, I have come to do your will, O God— as is written about me in the Scriptures.’), Jh3:16-17 NLT( “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.  God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.) -reason He lived a fulfilled life. The 12 disciples, Apostle Paul lived according to the will of God for their lives. Like the popular saying “when the purpose of a thing is not well defined, abuse is inevitable”. You can’t keep living your life to chances and guesses when you have a Father to help you know what His will for your life is.  Ehp5:17NLT( Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do). Yes, even unbelievers sometimes get it right proven by the rate of success they have attain in life, how much more a child of faith. Knowing Yahweh’s will is not a problem for me any longer and it doesn’t have to be for you. Below are few scriptural tenets that helped me and many others unravel the will of God for their lives and to guide you in decision making.

1.   The will of God is that you get saved: 1Tim2:3-5 (This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. For, There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Yahushua- emphasis mine) also read Jh3:16-17. Sin separated us from Yahweh but Yahushua reconciled us back to Him through the New Covenant with His blood. If you want to know Yahweh will for you, you must be His child through Christ first only then will you have direct access to Him to know His will for your life. Just as a princess is entitled to every royal benefits, similarly you need to be a child of Yahweh through Christ to enjoy His blessings.

2.  His will is for you to love your existence: You are  created for a purpose: Rev4:11 NLT( “You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.”). Irrespective of the circumstances surrounding your birth, the good news is that it pleased Him to create you. 1Tim4:4 NLT  (Since everything God created is good, we should not reject any of it but receive it with thanks). Be happy with your existence on earth and never blame God or your parents, guardian or anyone for any pain. Persecution is part of the will of God for you Jas1:2-4 ( Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.) The earlier you know that the better to help you understand what the Faith is all about.  It’s  not easy but, you have to be strong. 2Tim3:12NLT(Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.), also read Mk10:29-30. Ensure you guard your heart from bitterness during such times Matt5:44 NLT (But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you) also read Rom 12:14.

3.  It’s God’s will that you be filled with the Holy Spirit: Jh14:26NLT (But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you).   Immediately after salvation, you receive a new life which is the Holy Spirit to guide you into more truth according to the will of  Yahweh; those are His true children-Jh4-23-24. This is vital because that’s your link to hear from Yahweh regularly (also read Jh14:15-21).  As Yahweh’s temple here on earth, the baptism of the Holy Spirit cannot be overlooked 1Cor6:19-20NLT (Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body). He guides you to build better relationships with others, abstainance from vices, obeying parents and higher authorities, academic excellence, success in career, mostly He will help you know and understand Yahweh’s will for you per time in any situation. Just as your spiritual growth is important to Him, assisting you to be successful in all areas of life is also His role. But, if you find it difficult to obey/honor to your parents or any higher authority then you may not be able to work with the Holy Spirit.

4.  It is the will of God that you have faith: Heb11:6NLT (And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him). Yahushua couldn’t help or heal anyone without faith as studied in the scriptures. So, you need to have faith so you can please Yahweh because oftentimes, His will looks/sounds ridiculous but if you are not strong in faith you may miss out on His will for your life. It is by faith that we study and understand the scriptures because you weren’t there when it was written, but by faith we believe they are the words of Yahweh. Do you know faith is practiced in our daily lives either consciously or unconsciously? Example, when you want to go anywhere, you get up and take neccesssary actions to arrive at your destination else you remain were you are. Thats how faith works too. You believe you will get to your destination that’s why you moved. Remember, the more you grow in faith, the more you receive from Him. Faith is what makes you ask for anything according to His will, and you will receive it 1Jh5:14NLT (And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.) Also read Rom1:17; 10:17, Heb11:1.

Just as you have set of rules and regulations that guide you in school to graduate successfully, to know the will of God for your life, you have to do His will to know His will for your life.

BUT WHAT IF GOD DOESN’T GIVE ME A CLEAR ANSWER?

When this happens, most times it is caused by doubt. Or your mind is already made up on what to do. Probably its not His will at all.  It is very important you energize your faith regularly with the scriptures so you don’t get frustrated due to delay Rom10:17NLT (So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.)  However, anutime you are faced with a decision, first clear out the ones that would make you sin, be open to know his will, ask by faith, then analyse your options. Remember, as you desire to live according to the will of God for your life, be careful because even Satan disguises like an angel of light.

Prayer: Grace to obey Your will at all times including during persecution, I receive it in Yahushua’s name, Amen!

Matt26:29 He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”
